Antenna and Propagation for the HF Ham

Over the last fair period of time, I have heard on the repeater more than just a few references to needing an antenna to get on HF. These comments have been from new hams and a few not so new hams who have upgraded.

As many have heard me say, there is a bit of art involved in HF as there are many compromises that must be considered before one can select THE antenna that will solve all of the hams needs. Many have also heard me say no ham has too many antennas.

As an aide to guide what is available and what some of the issues are, I located a really basic, meaning no engineering degree needed, discussion of the bands and some basic and some not so basic antennas. These are not all inclusive, but the 74 page guide should be something to read to get the new HFer in the ball park.

The guide is in the download section of the web site at: http://www.w3vpr.org/node/307.
I think there is more information that can be made available or is available. I can answer questions at most club meetings or on the repeater. If I don't have the answer, I know where to find it, generally.
