September Newsletter

Here is the September Newsletter!

Holly N3MB made print along with AE3RR Ryan and K3ASK Andrew

I am always amazed at the amount of press time the AARC group gets. For those that are relatively new to the club, AARC members have been featured on the cover of QST, where many articles have been published from members, the ARRl website, and been guest speakers at the Dayton Hamvention. Plus many other websites and publications. If you subscribe to World Radio Magazine, you may have seen a couple familiar faces. The Sept edition features a brief write up about the Laural VEC.

Fallfest, on the Parking Lot at the AARC

from: Brian Belanger an AARC Club Member who is very active with the Antique Radio Club.

Each year in October the Mid-Atlantic Antique Radio Club holds a major event at the DFRC called "Fallfest." This consists of a large parking lot flea market and a large auction. We invite hams to attend as well as antique radio collectors. There will be a lot of vintage ham gear for sale both in the flea market and auction. There is no charge for admission or flea market spaces, but there is a commission charged for those who wish to sell items in the auction. Last year's event was a great success, and we expect this year's event to be even bigger. Last year the Anne Arundel Amateur Radio Club provided a couple of people and set up a flea market booth to sell ARRL literature. We would like to invite the club to do so again this year. The date is Sunday, Oct. 19. Please pass on the word and let me know if there is interest in participating again this year.

August Newsletter

Sorry -- I thought I had posted this a few days ago. I guess I forgot to save it.

Maryland QSO Party

One of our (AARC Jr.) top four radio events will take place this weekend - The Maryland QSO Party.

It's a pretty civilized event in that it takes a mandated 12-hour break. The contest starts at Noon on Saturday and stops at Midnight. The contest resumes on Sunday at Noon and stops at 8:00pm on Sunday.

In 2004 AARC Jr. took First Place in the Club Category. Since then the "professional" contesters decided jump in and they've won the category the last three years and we've placed 2nd twice and third once during that stretch.

KI3DS Field Day Summary
