Can You Spare Some Time?

We have two opportunities for which volunteers are needed. The first opportunity is Jeremy's Run on May 30. We've published requests for volunteers twice, but so far, we've received only two responses!

Please help if you can. To volunteer, go to Jeremy's Run Public Service Event Volunteer Form. For further information, please contact Larry, KB3YTX, at lpacker@harris.com. Full details of the event may be found below.

The second opportunity is a request for docents that we received from the National Capital Radio and Television Museum in Bowie. The museum's website is http://www.ncrtv.org

Here's the request from Irv Wexler, KB3I --

I'm on the volunteer committee, and we're looking to recruit docents for the museum. Over the last year, we've lost a few of our staff to age attrition. I'm thinking that within CARA there might be some folks who could donate some time, and enjoy the role of docent at the museum.

Current docents work anywhere from 1 to 3 days per month, during museum hours (10-5 Friday, 1-5 Saturday and Sunday.) This is a volunteer position, and training is provided before 'going live'. There are no strict position requirements, other than the enthusiasm to learn and teach; however, we've found hams usually make good docents.

If you could spread the word in your club, the museum would be grateful. I'd be happy to answer any questions regarding this to you or any other club members with an interest either by email, or phone

Many thanks!!

Ira Wexler, KB3I
