Flex-3000 Presentation Comments
The other night a few things did not work out quite as planned but have since been solved. I thought the people from the meeting might like to know what I found out.
I was disappointed that we were unable to check in to the 1900 Group. We heard them quite well. I did not expect the antenna (A Carolina Windom) to be great on 160 but I did think that the Flex would be able to tune it. As it turns out, there is a menu setting that limits the maximum SWR the tuner should consider as an acceptable match. To be on the safe side I have that set to 2:1. Had it been set to 3.0 or maybe 3.5 we might have had enough of a signal to work them. When the tuner was tuning I did see it pass up some SWR's in the 3's.
The other thing that I could not make work was the playback of an on-the-air recording. I forgot that the transmitter has to be keyed before "Play" is clicked. I am not sure why, because one might want to listen to a wave file without transmitting (We did have the drive set for zero).
I really enjoyed demonstrating the Flex and everything else went off as planned. The clubhouse was packed, so thanks to all of you who came!
