Field Day 2013 - Update #5

FD Photo

Greetings to all!

In a few days some very large rodent will be pulled from his hole in the ground by the scruff of his neck up in Gobbler’s Notch, Warbler’s Beak, Hob Goblin or some such rustic sounding town in Vermont, Pennsylvania or maybe Tennessee. Whether he sees a shadow or not will determine whether Spring is around the corner or whether we will have six more months of Winter.

Our theory is that regardless of what the rodent sees, his shadow, your shadow or even our shadow, it is going to be hot and humid in late June. OK, it’s just a theory but you might want to write that down.

But here’s something we don’t need that rodent to predict: The first club meeting in February will take place on the 7th, barring six more months of winter. Actually, the weather forecast for the 7th calls for partly cloudy conditions with a high of 43F.

Your Field Day Team is pleased to announce that in conjunction with the club meeting there will be a screening of our first Field Day commercial. This film has been in production at a secret location nestled in a notorious region of Romania. Due to some complaints about alleged improprieties it has only recently been modified for legal distribution and screening in the United States.

Bring some popcorn, grab a beverage and maybe some Raisinets or some Milk Duds because it’s Movie Night in Davidsonville. Contact your friends and get there early.

This movie received critical comments at the recent Sundance Film Festival. Somebody named Jack gave it one thumb up (We think it was a thumb). Rolling Stone said, “What the…” and “Who made this piece of…”. The Director of Societatii de Filme Romanesti (Society of Romanian Films) said, “Niciodat? din nou” (Never again).

You won’t want to miss this bold and exciting documentary on the use of kitchen tools by Pacific Rim cannibals prior to the introduction non-stick cookware.

Unfortunately the director of this incredible film will not be able to join us. Bob/AA3RR will be on assignment somewhere between Moab, UT and Kingman, AZ. However there is a remote possibility that he could join us via the magic of ham radio on 20m or 40m. If he can join us wouldn’t we rather have Brenda/KB3ATI give an introduction to the film and fill us in on the Field Day planning? We thought so too.

This just in from unidentified sources in Romania, a sequel to this film has been completed and it will be shown on the 21st of February. It was recently smuggled into the United States at a small remote border town in North Dakota.

See you at the clubhouse on the 7th. Come early and get a good seat.
