Field Day 2013 - Update #13

Field Day 2013

Aloha once again!

This will still be a Field Day to remember.

Update #13A - We're still gonna do Field Day like it was meant to be done only we'll have to pretend that we don't have running water at the clubhouse.

Yup, we once again have water at the clubhouse. However, it may not look like the water that comes out the faucet in your sinks at your home. This will look like the water you might expect to see in some third world country. A least for the time being.

Yup, you guessed it - we're gonna rough it.

THERE IS NO WATER AT THE DFRC at this time.

The following is an extract from an e-mail that was forwarded to me:

Field Day 2013 - Update #11

Field Day 2013

Aloha to one and all!

Wow!

It’s almost here! Field Day that is. Finally!

Only five more days to go and for those who are going to participate those days will drag along very, very slowly like the countdown to Christmas when you were a kid. For those who have been planning and organizing this year’s event, these next few days are going to go by in a flash and we’ll be wishing we had more time just in case we forgot something.

Field Day 2013 - Update #10

Field Day 2013

Greetings to one and all!

As of this date, there are only 51 days until the start of Field Day.

Do not visit the club’s Field Day website expecting to find up-to-date information about this year’s Field Day operation. Until further notice this BLOG will be the club's official source of Field Day 2013 information.

I think most, if not all of you, know by now that Field Day will be held the weekend of 21-23 June 2013.

The total time setting-up prior to the start of the operational phase of Field Day cannot exceed 24 hours. Note: We normally spend 8-10 hrs setting up our Field Day site.

Greetings to all!

Check your calendars and make sure March 10th is available. Yup, that's a Sunday. It's also the date of the Wisconsin QSO Party. This event will be another great opportunity for everyone to prepare for Field Day.

We will operate two phone stations and one CW station at the clubhouse starting at 2pm.

Steve Kelly/K3BAY will host this event. So c'mon out and have some fun!

Louisiana QSO Party on February 9th

Please mark your calendar for February 9th!

Update: February 13th: Score Claimed Updated

The Louisiana QSO party is now in the books, and I would like to thank everyone that showed up. We ended up working 15 parishes, with a score of 750 points. Although finding Louisiana contacts proved to be a challenge at time, I think we can all agree that that we had a good day.

A total of 16 people showed up, some new hams making there first HF contact and even some individuals that are not licensed yet, but wanted to see what casual contesting and HF radio was all about.

Field Day 2013 - Update #5

Greetings to all!

In a few days some very large rodent will be pulled from his hole in the ground by the scruff of his neck up in Gobbler’s Notch, Warbler’s Beak, Hob Goblin or some such rustic sounding town in Vermont, Pennsylvania or maybe Tennessee. Whether he sees a shadow or not will determine whether Spring is around the corner or whether we will have six more months of Winter.
